Hello Friends!
Today I’m going to talk about one of the best and most famous ethnic restaurants in the heart of Manhattan. Of course new York is the place of the melting pot, and you can see and try it not only in the tons of different faces in the streets but also in the huge amount of different ethnic and traditional restaurants. It’s true that in New York city you can find pretty much each world kitchen!
I’m a really curios person and I love trying different traditional dishes especially the ones so far from my traditional tastes.
Some weeks ago I asked to my husband to have an ethnic dinner together, and he suggested to try the super famous Miss Korea, which is a Korean Barbecue, that he tasted some months before during a dinner with his coworkers.
Korean Barbecue? At the beginning it sounded weird! But my motto in New York is “Why Not”, so I decided to try it!
After my dinner at Miss Korea I completely changed my mind! Korean Barbecue was not weird at all! Everything I eat was delicious and we had an awesome dinner! So now I’m here to suggest to you to try it as soon as you can because it will be an amazing experience not only for your mouth!
Miss Korea is the most popular Korean restaurant in Manhattan and it is located at ……… in the middle of Koreatown (a little neighborhood between …..).
What I loved at Miss Korea and Why I suggest it to you.
The first thing I noticed entering in the restaurant were the particular tables. Each table had in the middle a sort of big built in stove, each stove had its own hood for suck the smoke produced from the stove. The dinner was cooked on these stove in front of the guests.
From the menu we chose our courses and the waiters brought the meat, the fish or the vegetables uncooked and he cooked it for us in our stove in the center of our table.
During the cooking time, the waiters brought to you an huge amount of side dishes, sauces and vegetables. Although I had not idea of what they were, or what was inside, I assure that each of them were delicious!
We chose the meat (beef and pork), vegetables, tofu and some other side dishes and sauces. Of course the waiters cooked our choices in front of us (only the beef was marinate in advance but still uncooked) and served us.
The meat was wonderful, perfectly cooked, delicious and really soft!
The menu offers a ton of options like fish, soups and a lot of traditional Korean dishes. In my case, I didn’t understand completely all the ingredients of the more traditional recipes, so I skipped them, even though they looked amazing!
Of course I tried also some Korean liquor, but in my mind they are too much strong for me!
Here the high lights of my first time at Miss Korea! I hope this post could be a good suggestion for those of you who are in New York (or who plan to go here) and want to try something different that the usual American barbecues! My little suggestion is the same than usual: try try try don’t be afraid from the cultural differences! Especially in New York you can try pretty much everything so, what are you waiting for?
